Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tamara van Esch composes eclectic baroque indie-folk reminiscent of This Is the Kit and Mitski. Previously, she released three critically acclaimed albums under the name Mevrouw Tamara. She has performed at venues including Paradiso, Melkweg, Het Zonnehuis, Landgoed de Paltz, PAARD, Hedon, the Van Gogh Museum, 013, De Helling, Simplon, TivoliVredenburg, Roode Bioscoop, Ekko, and Cinetol, as well as on national TV (BNN/VARA, AVRO, NTR) and radio stations NPO 1, 2, 3FM, 4, and 5. Her tours have taken her across the UK, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Cyprus, and Japan.
With her album Tussen Lagen, she gives voice to unusual stories that also convey hope, inspired by interviews with people experiencing psychological vulnerability. The lyrics and artwork were created collaboratively with them. She is currently working on a new album, in the persona of her 200-year-old character Gracie, set in 2045, which reflects on both her past and future. Tamara has performed worldwide in bands spanning genres from dream folk to hard rock. In addition to her own music, she is currently active as a keyboardist, guitarist, and vocalist with Blaudzun and Render Ghosts. |
