Under the name Sleeper Nell, Pieternel Teekens will release her debut album Vanilla Town on May 1, 2025. Together with producer/musician Gijs van Veldhuizen (Audiogijs) and guitarist Anne C. van Wieren (CAW CAW), she has created a captivating, vocally driven indie folk album with influences from eightiespop and ninties indierock (Joni Mitchell meets Bettie Serveert meets Cocteau Twins).
By the end of 2024, three singles had already been released: Earth Quake, I Ascend, and Skin & Bones & Cloth. In January 2025, Sleeper Nell played her first live shows during Eurosonic. On May 10, 2025, she will present Vanilla Town at Vera Kelderbar/Downstage, joined by Gijs van Veldhuizen on guitar, Suze Commandeur on bass and vocals, and Daan Noordhoek on drums. Since 2022, she has been performing new material every two months at the Peter, Pieternel & Meindert Show in Zuidhorn (this season still on March 20 and May 15). Additionally, Pieternel is touring with Meindert Talma and his band for the presentation of Talma’s latest release, Gezinsverbijstering. |
