KAMINSKI
"What would you do if life gave you a second chance?" For Derek Kuipers, better known as Kaminski, the answer was simple: write music and free himself from the past. After battling a serious illness caused by Covid-19, Kaminski found himself asking the hard questions about what truly mattered in life. At the top of his list was his desire to create music that would allow him to break free from the chains of his past. And so, from the safety of his home quarantine, Kaminski transformed his garage into a DIY studio and began the process of creating his most personal work to date.
As he delved into the depths of his soul, Kaminski was confronted with the struggles of his upbringing in a religious cult. My Diary Lied, his 10-song indie prog hybrid album, is a cathartic journey that takes listeners through the ups and downs of his past, as he explores the anxiety dreams and perpetual tardiness that characterized his childhood. But Kaminski didn't stop there. His work is an ongoing process, and this fall he'll be releasing a new EP that promises to delve even deeper into his personal journey. For Kaminski, music is more than just a creative outlet, it's a way to heal and grow. So join him on this journey of self-discovery, as he continues to push the boundaries of his art and find freedom through his music. |
