Born Days is Chicago based singer, songwriter, and producer Melissa Harris known for making her own brand of cinematic darkwave electronic pop that evokes all things dreamy and apocalyptic. Harris uses reverb-drenched vocals, computer glitch inspired synthesizers, and a variety of sampled drums and drum machines to produce lush hazy soundscapes that are both upbeat and dark. Harris writes, records, and produces everything in her little DIY studio she built in her dining room.
Born Days’ music is heavily inspired by the synthesizers modeled in the late 70s and early 80s, drums sampled from early 90s house and hiphop, and the iconic sound of the Rhodes Wurlitzer and the Hammond organ. After Harris’ debut self-produced EP Be True was released in 2017 it garnered praise from sources such as DIY Magazine, Bandcamp, Impose Magazine, The Deli, Destroy and Exist, Surviving the Golden Age, and the Chicago Tribune and earned her comparisons to the likes of Princess Chelsea, EMA, and Lana Del Ray.
