The moment the duo steps on the podium they become BlackboxRed. A heavily crushing grunge steamroller. A hounded human machine. Eva stares. An atom-splitting gaze. She tortures her guitar and menaces vocally. Meanwhile Stefan becomes a hammering octopus hitting his drums mercilessly. A stroboscope – the devil’s light – dazzles the spectators. No escape route.
After the release of their debut album ‘The Gunner and the Ghost’ (2013), the EP ‘Beak to Beak’ (2015), and their second full length ‘Salt in my eyes’ (2018), BlackboxRed is now back with a new 7-track EP Gods and Spies, inspired by the haunting German series 'Dark'. The band dives into a vast, dark and never-ending space to create their new haunting ghost-grungy sound. The expected release of the EP will follow in 2025. BlackboxRed played alongside: Savages, Claw Boys Claw, Blood Red Shoes, Sisters of Mercy and Rolo Tomassi. |
Press"BlackboxRed seem to have found a space, unbeknownst to anyone here in the Netherlands, and use it to create a sonic worldview in a full-on rock record that more affected, or fashion-conscious acts will find nigh on impossible to beat" - Richard James Foster (Louder Than War) |
